1   Entry Technician      (Production)

Promotion to Master is based on successful completion of entry training and demonstrated mastery of execution.

2   Master Technician      (Diagnosis & Repair)

+ 2 years experience

Promotion to Expert is based business need first with successful demonstration of CAPA leadership.

3   Expert Technician

     (Specialized or Lab with continuous process improvement) 

Merit = Performance and behavior.

+ 5 years’ experience

Openings are based on business need.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • [Entry] Safely test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair to component level any electronic and/or electro-mechanical products from written documentation (procedures, schematics, etc).  Tasks and duties will vary according to the assignment and may include new production build, customer returns, warranty  products or incoming assemblies.
  • [Entry] Identifies root cause of failures and fix defective products.  Report actual and potential quality issues for corrective/preventative action.
  • [Entry] Manages time and resources to ensure on-time delivery of product at or below standard times without direct supervision.
  • [Entry] Completes work according to relevant standards (IPC).  Provide training and auditing of production personnel to ensure relevant standards are met.
  • [Entry] Makes recommendations to improve quality, increase productivity, manufacturability, or reduce cost.
  • [Master]  Trains and directs others to carry out established procedures.
  • [Master] Performs deep component level troubleshooting from theory of operation and schematics.  Performs 2nd order root cause failure analysis.
  • [Master] Performs defined maintenance procedures on complex machines and test equipment.
  • [Master] Sets up new products in existing processes (simple machine programming or recipe selection).
  • [Master] Evaluates alternative processes, tools and equipment for manufacturing and makes recommendations to improve production procedures.
  • [Master] Implements recommendations to improve quality, increase productivity, manufacturability, or reduce cost.  Work with production to achieve zero manufacturing defects and field failures.
  • [Expert] Builds complex prototypes from customer/designer documents.
  • [Expert] Creates VERGENT test procedures or equipment from customer/designer documents or specifications.
  • [Expert] Defines preventative maintenance requirements and procedures for equipment according to Total Productive Maintenance principles.
  • [Expert] Identifies quality trends from production or warranty events (without direction) then leads formal process improvement efforts and corrective/preventative action to change work practices using established Quality System procedures.
  • [Expert] Translates industry best practices and applicable standards into VERGENT procedures and methods.
